AND ANNUAL SOCIETY DINNER

2019 WINNER: NORMAN BAILEY

Every year the Wagner Society presents this Award to individuals or groups considered by the Society’s Committee to have been of outstanding service to Wagner and his music. Previous recipients have been Graham Clark, Plácido Domingo, Dame Anne Evans, Jane Eaglen, Catherine Foster, Bernard Haitink, Dame Gwyneth Jones, Anthony Negus, Sir Anthony Pappano, Alberto Remedios, David Syrus, Sir John Tomlinson, Wolfgang Wagner, Keith Warner, City of Birmingham Touring Opera and the Grahams for their work at Longborough.

This year’s Sir Reginald Goodall Memorial Award has been awarded to Norman Bailey.  It is of course fitting that an award named after Reginald Goodlall should be awarded to someone who worked so closely with him in what are now almost legendary performances in this country.

Norman Bailey will be flying from America to accept the award which, as in previous years, will be presented at a dinner to be held at The Royal Over-Seas League, St James’, on Wednesday 18th March 2020

The Annual Dinner of the Wagner Society will again be held at the Royal Over-Seas League in St James, central London.  The award goes in 2020 to Norman Bailey CBE.

Members and their guests are most cordially welcomed to this dinner and we also extend this invitation to members of the other United Kingdom Wagner Societies as well as those in Europe and around the world.

Tickets £120 each, which includes a Champagne reception, four course meal with vintage wines, Port and cognac and  after dinner entertainment from young Wagnerian singers before the presentation of the Goodall Award.
