Eduardo Benarroch

Born in Azul (province of Buenos Aires, 7/9/1946). Studies.  Geodesy & Geophysics MSc (Argentina).  Then US Fulbright Scholarship to MIT (Cambridge Mass.). PhD in Geodesy . PhD in Geophysics. Married Heather Harper 1973.   Since 1987 musicologist, specializing in Wagner.   Wrote and Presented “Live from the BBC” for  National Radio in Argentina. Wrote and Presented the Bayreuth Festival in conjunction with Bayerische Rundfunk. Acted as assistant record producer for several companies. Discovered unpublished orchestral version of Strauss’s Der Arbeitsman” subsequently recorded by Heather Harper with the LSO. Co-Produced The Royal Opera’s production of Lohengrin at the Teatro Colon Buenos Aires. Conferences about Wagner and Richard Strauss in UK, USA and Symposium in Bayreuth. Wrote essay about “Wagner in Victorian England” for Bayreuth Programme. Wrote chapter  “Tannhauser in Theatreland” for Wartburg University Book. Presently Opera Critic for Musical Opinion, Opera Magazine, Opera Actual (Barcelona), Pro Opera Magazine (Mexico).
