We are very happy to announce our first Young Lecturers’ Prize. which is to be held on 21st January at Swedenborg Hall, London from 7pm, and would are asking young academics or musicians to submit a short lecture topic with a Wagnerian theme. The jury will be chaired by Professor John Deathridge.

The winner of the lecture prize will receive £500 and the audience prize winner will receive £100. There will also be the opportunity for the winner to visit the 2020 Bayreuth Festival under the Bayreuth Festival Scholarship scheme. The winner of the Lecture Prize will be given a paid evening lecture later in the year in central London, hosted by the Wagner Society, as part of their prize. Also there will be the opportunity to have the lecture published in Wagner News, the quarterly Wagner Society Magazine.

The deadline for applications is 10th January 2020 and the 3 successful applicants will be invited to lecture on their chosen Wagner related subject at the Wagner Society Lecture Prize evening on 21st January 2020, for 30 minutes each. The jury will decide the winner.

Anyone wishing to take part can now send for an application form by emailing lectureprize@wagnersociety.org. They must be a resident In the British Isles (though not necessarily UK citizens) and still under the age of 35 by August 2020.

Tickets £20 including refreshments.  (£5 for Students and under 30s with free membership and if they have previously provided proof of status.)

You can also register for the event and then send a cheque or bank transfer to the Society. If you prefer not to use the website for payment, then please send your cheque to the Society’s Treasurer at 15 Gibson Square London N1 0RD.  If none of the above methods of purchasing a ticket works for you, then you can contact us by e-mail at – ticketsecretary@wagnersociety.org.  Please note that all ticket sales are final and that no refunds will be allowed unless the event is cancelled or abandoned with less than half having taken place.  If an event is sold-out, we will accept tickets for resale on a best endeavours basis.  Please also note that whilst no formal tickets are sent out for any event (except the annual dinner), a confirmatory email is sent.  if you do not receive this, please check your spam or junk folders.  This confirmatory email is NOT required for admittance to an event.
