Peter Conrad was born in Australia and taught English literature at Christ Church, Oxford, from 1973 to 2011.  He has written more than twenty books, including How the World Was Won: The Americanization of Everywhere; Creation: Artists, Gods & Origins; At Home in Australia; Modern Times, Modern Places: Life and Art in the Twentieth Century; Mythomania (based on a Radio 3 series); and – on opera – A Song of Love and Death and Verdi and/or Wagner.  His latest book, on Shakespeare, will be published by Head of Zeus in October.  He lives in London and New York.

 

 

Tickets £20 including refreshments.  (Free admission to Students and under 30s with membership (also free) and if they have previously provided proof of status.)
