A talk by Mark Austin, conductor, with musical extracts by soprano Mari Wyn Williams

This lecture examines the background to Beethoven’s extraordinary influence upon Wagner, considering musical and written documents that permit a deeper understanding of both figures. Conductor and scholar Mark Austin is able to draw upon his experience as a performer as well as his ongoing research in this area.  He is joined by soprano Mari Wyn Williams (a 2016 Wagner Society Singing Competition finalist) who will sing musical extracts as part of the lecture.
