Dear Friends
As I’m nearing the end of my time at ENO as Music Director, I wanted to thank you for your support.
Being a part of ENO has been such an amazing journey, of course there have been challenging times but it has been wonderful to see the organisation grow and work with my superb chorus and orchestra. There have been many highlights, my first production as Music Director Death in Venice in 2007, Peter Grimes starring the magnificent Stuart Skelton and this year conducting the now award-winning The Mastersingers of Nuremberg are just a few.
The support of the Friends throughout this has been vital, from giving to the productions through Friends Appeals, attending Insight events and being my first audience for each production at dress rehearsals – both myself and ENO really couldn’t do what we do without you, it goes much further than financial support you really are at the heart of the company.
Whilst I’m very much looking forward to my new post as Chief Conductor at Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in September, it will be with both sadness and pride that I will conduct my final performance at ENO as Music Director for Queen of Spades on Thursday 2 July. I would love it if you could join me there for the evening.
Thank you again for all your support and I look forward to seeing you next summer for Tristan and Isolde.
Very best wishes
Ed
