From our new Webmaster – Henry Kennedy
Dear fellow Wagnerians,
You
may be aware that I have recently (April 2015) been appointed Webmaster for The Wagner Society. I thought you’d like to know about what I will be doing for the Society and what I aim to do for the future of the Society, along with introducing you to the new website.
My role includes:
- Acting as technical administrator for the website
- Writing and posting articles
- Publicising events
- Helping to attract new members to the Society
- Stimulating debate on the website and social
network sites
I am currently studying clarinet at The Royal Academy of
Music and I have very strong interests in conducting and, of course, in Wagner.
As you will all be aware, the recent step which we have
undertaken in regard to our new website has been huge. Despite the technical
problems you may have encountered at first, we hope these have now been
resolved (if this is not the case please contact me directly). The Wagner
Society are very proud and excited about the change in our website for the
future and we would be very happy to hear any thoughts you have about it.
I would ask those who have not already done so to have a
look at our:
- Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheWagnerSociety
- Twitter page: https://twitter.com/wagnersocietyuk
- Google Plus page: https://plus.google.com/108421931779961883051/posts
Please feel free to follow / like our pages. I believe these
social network sites are the key to attracting as many young people to our
events. With my connections to the other music colleges, I very much hope
my fellow students and potential younger members will be at the very least, aware of our events.
In addition, part of my role is to work side by side with
Gillian Wyn-Thomas (our newly appointed Events Manager) in promoting and publicising
both The Wagner Society’s and any other external Wagnerian events. I would urge
you to send me an email to let me know about any external Wagner events we have not
already publicised on the website. This will help us to ensure the website provides the widest coverage possible and is a useful
tool for all.
Finally, I would like to ask all Wagner Society Members
to feel welcome to send any reviews of concerts, recent book/CD releases
please. I think the more people that feel happy to send through reviews of
Wagnerian events, the more likely it is the website will be used and appreciated. We also invite your comments and feedback on any of the articles and events posted, and you will find space to post your comments under the relevant piece on the website.
So please do email me with any of your thoughts and comments to webmaster@wagnersociety.org
Best wishes,
Henry Kennedy
Webmaster, The Wagner Society
