Event: 7pm for 7:30pm on Wednesday 5th March 2025 at Swedenborg Hall, London, WC1A 2TH
During his studies, Puccini bought a score of Wagner’s Parsifal. Some years later he visited Bayreuth and particularly Tristan and Parsifal advanced to his favourite works of Wagner.
Traces of engagement with Wagner’s work run through Puccini’s work. In the lecture, these traces are shown and presented with musical examples.
Marc-E. Ibscher was born in Hamburg in the year 1966 and works as a customs officer since the age of 20. In 1993 the chairwoman of the Flensburg Wagner Association suggested he present lectures, with the first theme on Anton Bruckner.
From 2000 until 2017 he has been the chairman of Flensburg Wagner Association. This advanced him to present lectures about Wagner and his musical environment also outside the Wagner associations.
Since 2016 he is more regular guest to present lectures in the Munich Wagner Association, and also in other Wagner associations in Germany (Koblenz, Bayreuth, Augsburg).
We ask members to kindly refrain from arriving before 7pm so that the committee and speaker have enough time to set up.
